What to expect from your care

Maryland-licensed psychiatric providers evaluating, prescribing, and following up on at-home ketamine protocols across Baltimore, the DMV suburbs, Annapolis, and the Eastern Shore. Ketamine is prescribed off-label and is not FDA-approved for psychiatric conditions.

How the at-home ketamine program works in Maryland

Step one is a 30-minute video evaluation with a Maryland-licensed psychiatric clinician. We review your diagnosis, prior treatments, medical history, and goals, then decide together whether ketamine is clinically appropriate. If it is, we build a written protocol — typically six sublingual dosing sessions over four to six weeks, each paired with an integration visit. No Beltway commute required.

When prescribed, the compounded sublingual lozenge ships from a U.S.-licensed compounding pharmacy directly to your Maryland address. Your prescribing clinician stays with you for the full course. Ketamine is prescribed off-label and is not FDA-approved for psychiatric conditions.

Where we serve in Maryland

Baltimore City and County, the DC suburbs (Montgomery and Prince George's), Anne Arundel and Annapolis, Frederick and Western Maryland, and the Eastern Shore from Easton through Salisbury and the Lower Shore. The lozenge ships to any Maryland residential address — including counties where in-clinic options would mean a long drive each way.

Cost in Maryland

In Maryland we're in network with Aetna, Cigna, and Tricare. We aren't in network with Maryland Medicaid yet, and Medicaid can't be billed out of network, so self-pay is $150 per visit. If another plan isn't listed, check it on our insurance checker. The compounded ketamine itself is paid directly to the pharmacy (typically $70–$100/month) and isn't billed to insurance. FSA and HSA dollars apply to both. Full rates are on our pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about this service.

Ketamine is a Schedule III prescription medication that has been used in U.S. medical settings since 1970, originally as an anesthetic. At lower, sub-anesthetic doses, some clinicians prescribe it off-label for certain mental-health conditions such as treatment-resistant depression. Generic and compounded ketamine are not FDA-approved to treat any psychiatric condition; the only FDA-approved esketamine product is Spravato, which is delivered through a separate REMS program.

Ketamine acts primarily on NMDA glutamate receptors and is being studied for its effects on neuroplasticity. Research is ongoing and individual response varies. Ketamine is not a cure, is not appropriate for everyone, and should only be used under the supervision of a licensed clinician as part of a broader psychiatric care plan.

Important: We cannot and do not claim that ketamine is safe. Ketamine is a Schedule III controlled substance with real risks, and no medication is risk-free. Any decision to prescribe is made by a licensed clinician based on an individual evaluation. Possible effects include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, and short-term increases in blood pressure and heart rate. Misuse can lead to dependence and bladder or urinary tract problems, and the Ketalar prescribing label warns that repeated use can injure the liver and bile ducts. The FDA has issued warnings about the risks of compounded ketamine used for psychiatric purposes, especially without clinical supervision. Ketamine is generally not appropriate for patients with active psychosis or mania, uncontrolled hypertension, recent cardiovascular events, certain substance-use disorders, or pregnancy. A psychiatric provider will screen for these and other contraindications before any prescribing decision. This information is educational and is not medical advice.

Not under current federal rules, which let a clinician prescribe a controlled substance such as ketamine after a video evaluation, with no in-person visit first, when it's clinically appropriate and state rules allow. Federal telehealth rules for controlled substances are temporary through Dec 31, 2026 and may change (Federal Register). The intake and follow-ups are conducted by video — convenient for patients in Baltimore, the DMV suburbs, the Eastern Shore, and Western Maryland. A prescription is never guaranteed.

If another plan isn't listed, check it on our insurance checker. Compounded ketamine itself is paid directly to the pharmacy and is not covered by insurance.

Coverage depends on your state and plan. Choose your state and plan in the booking tool to see providers in network for it, or book self-pay at $150 per visit. You can also check your plan by state.

The booking tool shows each provider's real open times, so you can see what's available before you book. Insurance visits must be booked at least 72 hours ahead so we can check your benefits. Where online booking isn't open, call (702) 848-2256 to schedule. If you're in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.

Online psychiatry is mental health care from a licensed prescriber over secure video instead of in an office. You get the same core services: evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and medication management. At Anywhere Clinic, you can also add talk therapy, with your prescriber and therapist coordinating your care.

You complete a short intake, choose insurance or self-pay, and book a video appointment. If you use insurance, we check your benefits before the visit. At the first visit, your provider asks about your symptoms, history and goals, then recommends a plan. If medication is appropriate, it's sent to your pharmacy. Follow-ups happen by video with the same provider.

Yes. Our providers are licensed in 47 states and D.C., and you can see one by secure video from home if you're in a state we serve during the visit. Choose your state when you book to see providers and times. Telehealth isn't right for every situation, so your provider confirms it fits at your first visit.

Yes, when your provider decides medication is appropriate after evaluating you. Licensed psychiatric prescribers can prescribe most psychiatric medications over video, and prescriptions are sent electronically to your pharmacy. You won't get one just by asking. Controlled substances, such as stimulants, are more tightly regulated and depend on your state and your provider's judgment. We don't prescribe controlled substances in Alabama, Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

For many conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD, research finds outcomes from video care comparable to office visits. Results still vary by person and condition. Some situations, like a crisis or a need for in-person assessment, call for face-to-face care, and your provider will tell you if that applies.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation lasting about 30 to 40 minutes. Your provider will discuss your history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Together, you'll develop a personalized treatment plan.

We treat a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, eating disorders, and more. Your provider tells you if your needs call for a different level of care.
